Project management with health promotion projects in Ethiopia
Do you want to gain experience as a project manager on an exciting development project with a focus on reproductive health and women's rights? And would you like to do it in close collaboration with a student organization in East Africa?
IMCC Global is looking for students to volunteer to help improve the health of the people in some of the world's most vulnerable countries. We are currently working on two long-term projects in resp. Ethiopia and Kenya. In this connection, we are looking for enterprising volunteers for the Ethiopia project, who have the courage to help manage and further develop in an international development project - and perhaps travel on a shorter project visit or a longer stay as a youth leader in our partner country.
As a volunteer in IMCC Global, you become part of an interdisciplinary group consisting of committed students who are continuously developed through education, sparring, and dialogue.
We are currently working on a partnership project in collaboration with the Association of Medical Students in Ethiopia, EMSA. The aim of the project in Ethiopia is to educate school students in reproductive health and create a better dialogue about equal rights between men and women in sexual relations. This is done by building capacity and training young medical students to hold workshops and act as role models for school students. The goal is to combine knowledge about reproductive health and communication tools in order to improve the reproductive health of the school students who are part of the project. The project has been developed in close collaboration with local medical students and focuses on a strong partnership as well as innovative and participant-oriented methods.
In addition to the above project and the partner project in Kenya, we at IMCC Global have a number of committees consisting of the volunteer members. These committees handle tasks across the two project groups and include:
The steering group, as the coordinating committee for IMCC Global, which in particular handles the facilitation of IMCC Global's internal events as well as the communication with the IMCC secretariat
The finance group, stands to lay and present the annual budget, keep ongoing bookkeeping and financial management.
The communication group, which is responsible for PR and communication tasks internally in IMCC Global, including updates of facebook page and instagram as well as design and development of various materials.
As a volunteer at IMCC Global, we expect you to:
Have the courage to take responsibility and contribute to the implementation and further development of the projects
Want to go through a training period with both internal and external courses and education
Is motivated to work with topics such as international health issues, development work, project management, financial management and organizational development
Is a student in higher education
On average, can devote up to 20-25 hours per month
As a minimum, a volunteer is an active member for one year and wants to be part of the social and professional community that runs IMCC Global
We can in return offer you:
Concrete experience with international project management in an exciting and challenging environment
Concrete experience in partnership development with a focus on equality and mutual understanding across cultures
Extensive educational offer both internally in IMCC as well as at CISU and the Danish Youth Council
Opportunity to become part of an interdisciplinary and committed community that wants to create sustainable change
