The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, seeks to appoint a professor with special duties within Migration and Ethnic Minority Health to the Department of Public Health, Section for Health Services Research to commence as soon as possible. The post is for a fixed-term period (5 years) and on a part time basis (currently 50% time). At the end of the 5-year period of employment, the professor is secured an employment and remuneration as associate professor on a part time basis.

Job description 

In considering applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific production on an international level within the area migration and ethnic minority health.
The theme of migrants’ health is receiving increasing attention both in relation to the consequences of migration on health for the individual migrant as well as for receiving societies including how we ensure migrants’ access to and use of health services in countries of transit and destination. The professor shall focus on these issues including how health interventions may contribute to facilitating integration as health is considered a prerequisite for successful integration and vice versa. 
The part-time professorship will be hosted by the Section for Health Services Research, University of Copenhagen, and the professor will be expected to collaborate with fellow researchers in the section and department as a whole to integrate health services research and public health methodologies into the field of migration and ethnic minority health.  
The Section is a multi-disciplinary research environment, in which people combine qualitative and quantitative methods to understand the workings of the health services, of patient perspectives, and of health policy at large.
The professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of: 
• research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication  
• research leadership as well as educational guidance and supervision of junior researchers  
• research-based teaching with associated examination duties  
• obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate  
• professional assessment work  
• assist in coordination and contact between hospitals and university 
• centre leader responsibility for Danish Research Centre for Migrants, Ethnicity and Health    

Qualification requirements 

The appointee should have qualifications within the following areas: 
• Document a high degree of original academic production at an international level, including considerable contributions to the development of the academic discipline
• Manage research and other management functions, e.g. engage in the university’s external academic activities, as well as knowledge and technology transfer  
• Provide research-based teaching  
The professor is also required to be enterprising and to possess good interpersonal skills.  

Terms of employment  

Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations. The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities (2013).

After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the Appointments Committee. The Dean then appoints an expert assessment committee in order to make an assessment of the selected applicants for the specific post.
