2018 annual NorWHO conference

The organizing committee of NorWHO cordially request the honour of the presence from students at the School of Global Health - University of Copenhagen for the 2018 annual NorWHO conference, to be held in the UN-City, Copenhagen / Denmark on the week of August 20th-24th, 2018.

Event description: NorWHO is a gathering of students in medicine, public health, and other fields from major universities across the world. Each year the conference focuses on a different topic. The theme for the 2018 conference is: Access to essential medicines - how can we ensure global equality

The conference will focus on improving the global accessibility of essential medicines. This includes discussing the affordability of medicine, ensuring reasonable prices and evidence-based information to the public. The students will take on roles of delegates from different countries, pharmaceutical companies or NGOs, and simulate a World Health Assembly conference, to discuss possible solutions for the topic. The conference is being held in the UN-city, which provides our participants with an authentic and inspiring setting.

The conference is organized by a group of volunteer students from Aarhus and University of Copenhagen.

During the conference, there will also be experts within the field of access to essential medicine as speakers, and some of the speakers are as follows:

  • Magrethe Vestager, who is currently serving as the European Commissioner for competition.
  • Hans Hogerzeil, who is a former Director for Essential Medicines and Pharmaceutical Policies for the WHO.
  • Flemming Konradsen, who is currently the director for the School of Global Health at University of Copenhagen.

Registration for conference:
In order to participate at the conference, the students have to pay a registration fee of €99, if they register before the 15th of march. After this day, the fee will rise to €110.

The registration fee covers the cost of hosting the conference, expert lectures and workshops, 4 lunches, 4 dinners, 1 gala-dinner, coffee and fruit during the breaks and part of the social program.
