Department of Veterinary Disease Biology

Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen

Department of Veterinary Disease Biology at the Faculty of Life Sciences, which includes DBL - Centre for Health Research and Development, contributes through research, capacity building and knowledge management to poverty reduction and sustainable development. The approach is international but with the focus on low- and middle income countries in Africa and Asia. The entry point is cross-disciplinary and inter-sectoral. Activities are implemented in partnership with national institutions and networks and with reference to the hosting by the department of several WHO Collaborating Centres. Many activities address the neglected tropical diseases, including social and environmental determinants of health, health interventions and systems. This includes environmental health aspects of water and sanitation and hygiene and safety aspects of the transmission of zoonotic bacteria and parasites along the food production chain.
