European Humanitarian Volunteer Programme - Call for applicants

What is the European Humanitarian Volunteer Programme?

The European Humanitarian Volunteer Programme is a second pilot project starting in September 2012 to build humanitarian talent, capacity and European solidarity. It forms part of the second round of pilot projects being part-funded by the European Union to contribute to the establishment of a European Voluntary Humanitarian Aid Corps (EVHAC) as enshrined in the Lisbon Treaty.

The one year programme combines structured, sector-leading training, head office trainee placements and self-study with coached field deployments and provides a chance for Europeans to effectively contribute to international humanitarian programmes and gain experience in the humanitarian sector. Please note that this is an entry level programme.

The European Humanitarian Volunteer Programme is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international humanitarian programmes. The one year scheme is designed to enable participants to develop the necessary skills in order to launch a career in either programme management, logistics or one of the following technical sectors: Shelter, Education, Child Protection, Monitoring & Evaluation, Health and WASH in emergencies.

WHO CAN APPLY? Anyone with European citizenship who meets the essential criteria can apply for the European Humanitarian Volunteer Programme. We particularly welcome applications from candidates from new EU Member States.
