General presentation

The Stockholm Evaluation Unit (SEU) carries out and manages evaluations and other lesson learning exercises on behalf of the OCB and other sections. The unit is also part of the MSF inter-sectional evaluation group who provide evaluation services to international movement. The core activities of the unit have increased to more than 10 evaluations per year and the unit is expanding its mandate and objectives to better meet the needs of the OCs.

You can read more about the unit at http://evaluation.msf.org/

MFS Sweden has roughly 55 employees and around 80 office volunteers. MFS Sweden does nor run any field operations in itself, but is a partner section to two out of five operative centers (OCs) in MFS: Brussels (OCB) and Amsterdam (OCA).

Working with MSF means adhering to MSF's humanitarian principles: neutrality, impartiality and independence. The beneficiaries of MSF - the patients - are at core of anything that MSF does. Medical ethics and volunteerism are part of the MSF spirit.

Raison D'etre», Mission and Nature of the Position

The purpose of the position is to momentarily boost the capacity of the unit in order to develop certain vertical initiatives, mainly linked to SEU communication (i.e. evaluation website), as well as support good documentation and activity reporting around evaluation work. It is also an opportunity to engage with aspiring humanitarian professionals and receive a fresh perspective on certain aspects of our work, whilst contributing to the chosen individuals' humanitarian development and experience.

Main Activities

The main focus will be updating and maintaining the MSF Evaluation public communication tools, such as the MFS evaluation website, with a special focus on developing certain aspects such as the "learning portals" section. In addition to the website, SEU runs the MSF Evaluation facebook page, which has a growing reach but is lacking a strategic approach and therefore will require attention.

A secondary focus will be to contribute to the evaluation process at the stages of desktop research, final reporting, editing, publishing and follow up.
