About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and solutions focused talent to join our People and Learning team as a Youth Volunteering Programme Assistant in London or Edinburgh on a part time basis.

You will provide operational support to enhance the capacity of the International Youth Volunteering Programme team, particularly in relation to the recruitment and day-to-day support needs of our international youth volunteers. You will develop and coordinate an active alumni network through which former volunteers can share their experience and access opportunities both within the Red Cross Movement and with external organisations.

This role is a job share between two individuals (3 days a week per post).

About the person

To be successful in this position you must have following skills and experience:

  • Educated to A-Level or with equivalent learning or experience
  • Up to date knowledge of good practice standards for working with volunteers and young people
  • Comfortable with using Microsoft Office programmes, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work on own initiative and with minimum supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a diverse range of audiences
  • Ability to be flexible to meet needs of the programme
  • Ability to assess and solve problems, remaining calm in crisis situations
  • Experience in an administrative role, including experience of logistics and event organisation
  • Experience of working with volunteers, especially young volunteers
