Policy seminar: Are you for or against?
A legal ban on non-medical circumcision of boys in Denmark (boys under the age of 18).

Open to students and staff at the University of Copenhagen

Date: May 19 2017, 12.15-15.00 PM
Venue: Room 1.1.18, CSS, University of Copenhagen

Kick off your weekend with a case seminar on policy development based on the current and controversial debate about non-medical circumcision of boys.

How are (health) policies made and what influences the process? What role does evidence, wide national and international media coverage, personal values and religious and cultural beliefs play in the shaping of public policy (in a Danish context) and how can we improve our ability to understand and critically reflect upon the explicit process?

Based on the current and controversial debate about male circumcision and a legal ban in Denmark we will investigate the perspectives that potentially influence a legal ban. Diverse experts will present their perspectives on the matter and welcome all students to critically reflect and challenge their views and strengthen their understanding of policymaking.
